Force-directed graphs use a physics simulation to position network nodes, applying repulsive forces between all nodes and attractive forces along edges. The resulting layout naturally clusters connected nodes and separates unconnected ones, making community structures and hub-and-spoke patterns immediately visible without manual positioning.
